Client Population and Specialist Interests
In my practice, I primarily work with children and adolescents ranging from 10 to 25 years old. However, I have also had experience working with children as young as 4 years old. For the younger age group, I find that parental consultations are often the most effective approach, as they provide valuable insights and support in addressing the child's needs.
Within my NHS role, I tend to work with emotionally troubled and disturbed adolescents who are grappling with longstanding mental health difficulties such as self-harm, eating disorders, and childhood trauma. These individuals require specialized care and a comprehensive understanding of their unique challenges.
An area that has captured my special interest is anxiety presentations, particularly obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). I have developed expertise in supporting individuals who struggle with anxiety-related difficulties, and I employ evidence-based strategies to help them navigate their challenges.
While some clinicians may claim expertise in an extensive list of presentations, I believe it is crucial to exercise caution in such claims. Every clinical problem is unique, and no single clinician can specialise in everything. I approach my work with humility, acknowledging my limitations and strive to provide the best possible care within my areas of expertise.
